Emanuel Borcescu

Emanuel Borcescu (born in 1980, Râmnicu Sărat) lives and works in Bucharest.

A graduate of UNARTE Bucharest, Graphic Arts department. Selection of solo exhibitions: 2015 - "Mineri de grădină" (Garden Miners), Lateral Artspace, Cluj, and Piața Universității, Bucharest; 2014 - "Schlafwagen," Magheru One; 2011 - "Jurnalul de imunologie al lui Docmarcell," Alert Studio; 2010 - "Fresca muncitorului român capitalist" (The Fresco of the Romanian Capitalist Worker), Piața Presei Libere; 2005 - "Eroii" (The Heroes), H'Art Gallery; 2002 - "Salvinia," Atelier 35.

Borcescu is interested in the mutation of meaning in the decoding of iconic images, embedded in collective memory, and in subversive ways of conveying messages. The artist remixes forms and situations, discovering new perspectives of interpretation.
