Pulsatilla
17 Jan 2024
At the end of a 2023 rich in painting exhibitions and many big names present in Romanian galleries, I was happy to discover a young artist and see her personal exhibition, "Pulsatilla". In the space of an old restored house, where the Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery is now located, Daniela Vîrlan invited the public on a meditative journey, through her works in vivid colors, loaded with fantastic characters and symbols.

The painter Daniela Vîrlan became for me the great revelation of the past year. Her works were presented until the last day of the year with a wiry exhibition from a pictorial and thematic point of view, in the ground floor/basement space of the Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery, an exhibition called Pulsatilla, curated by the always surprising artist Raluca Ilaria Demetrescu.
22 Nov 2023
In Pulsatilla, the latest exhibition at the Scemtovici & Benowitz gallery, Daniela Vîrlan approaches a new direction in her artistic practice and, even if the themes of the paintings are novel, we recognize specific elements of the artist's previous creation.

MoBu - International Art Fair of Bucharest (May 19-28, Romaero), the largest and most ambitious contemporary art fair ever held in Romania, has come to an end. Besides the big galleries (Strata, Romană, Nemțoi, Baraka, Atelier 030202 etc.), I was delighted by the presence of the young Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery, which entered the public circuit at the end of last year. It is entirely meritorious that they came to MoBu with only one artist, Olimpiu Bandalac, a personality of experimentalism from the last decades.
