Raluca Ilaria Demetrescu
Visual artist and curator, she tells life stories with a feminist twist through her artistic practice, both (auto)biographical and (auto)fictional.
A graduate of the UNARTE Bucharest master's program and with advanced studies at Sorbonne Paris, she lives and creates in Bucharest. The artist questions social and cultural contexts, both immediate and general, and addresses themes related to self, intimate framework, gender minorities, and from a feminist and playful perspective.
She exhibits in alternative spaces, museums, and established galleries. She curates art exhibitions and events in both alternative spaces and art galleries.
She writes and publishes essays and art reviews. She has received the UAP Romania award for painting and the third prize from Dominus for graphics. Her works are featured in collections in France, Germany, England, Japan, the USA, MNAC (National Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest), and the Art Museum in Ploiești.
